SUITSUIT Responsible Travel | Discover the convenience of the sleeper train
The Dolomites resemble Torres del Paine in Patagonia, it’s easy to imagine you’re in Cartagena when walking around in Seville, and in many places in the Balkan it feels like you’re in the Middle East. The message is clear: you don’t have to voyage far from home for an unforgettable travel experience.
Discover Europe by train
More and more people realise they don’t have to visit the other side of the planet for a unique travel adventure. Our small continent called Europe has more than enough to offer. A holiday in Europe is therefore becoming increasingly popular.
Arrive at your destination fully rested
Travelling by train is stress free. Forget about long lines at the security check, tight seats and turbulence. Take a seat in your spacious lounge seat or in your bed in a shared or private cabin, close your eyes and wake up at your destination.
This is starting to sound a bit like an advertising pitch but #nospon. We are genuinely excited about the rise of the sleeper train.
Pick your next destination
With the European Sleeper, you can travel between various Belgian, Dutch and German train stations, such as Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Dresden. The sleeper even takes you to Prague. The ÖBB Nightjet has a long list of interesting destinations, among which Vienna, Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Zagreb and Split. The Nightjet also takes you to Swiss cities Zurich and Basel. Discover breathtaking Switzerland or travel onwards to Milan, Genoa, Venice or Cinque Terre.
Alternatively, if you want to visit Scotland, take the Caledonian Sleeper from London. You can get to London from mainland Europe by Eurostar. Marseille, Paris, Dortmund, Amsterdam, Brussels and more are all connected to London via Eurostar.
Planning to visit the five Italian Cinque Terre villages from Germany? Take the ÖBB Nightjet from Munich and arrive at La Spezia Centrale the next morning—just in time for an authentic Italian cup of coffee.
Practical tips for your trip
Our advice is to check the websites of European Sleeper, ÖBB Nightjets and NS International for the best travel options. If you book well in advance, you have the greatest chance of scoring a good deal. Want to bring a bicycle or pet? Check beforehand whether you need an extra ticket.
Finally, we have some packing tips for you. Bring earplugs to block the sound of snoring fellow passengers and an eye mask to block bright light. A small snack, drinks and breakfast are usually included in your ticket, but just to be safe, stock up on your favourite snacks to get you through the evening.
Many sleeper trains have showers. Make sure your shower gel and travel towel are within reach. Modern trains have charging facilities. Keep your chargers at hand or bring a power bank if there’s no power.
Although most sleeper trains don’t have luggage restrictions, they ask you to not overdo it: stick to one large suitcase plus a backpack or travel bag as carry-on luggage. Our go-to option is the Natura backpack. The two side pockets are convenient for a water bottle and umbrella, the front pocket is ideal for your passport, earplugs and eye mask and on the inside, there’s enough space for your laptop, a good book and a generous number of snacks. For a longer trip, the Fab Seventies tote bag is ideal due to its spacious design, allowing you to carry plenty of belongings.
Apart from this, simply sit back, relax and enjoy the journey!
