Indian Summer in the French city of Annecy

Annecy: Venice of the Alps
Annecy is a large city in the South East of France. The city is enchanting because of the canals that flow right past the houses, the banks that are full of flowers, the fairytale bridges and the many colored houses. It’s not without reason that Annecy is called ‘Venice of the Alps’. Visit château d'Annecy: a castle built between the 12th and the 16th century that’s converted into a museum. You can also enjoy shopping in the most beautiful shopping street in Annecy: Rue de Saint Clair. Here you can stroll through streets full of nice shops and cozy restaurants. At the end of the Rue de Saint Claire you’ll find a square: Place de Saint Claire. The square is characterized by the Porte Saint-Claire, which has the clock of the city on it. Do you prefer to get out of the city? Go on a walk through the park or to the lake, rent a bicycle, board the water taxi and discover the surrounding villages or take the car to do one of the activities below! 

Lake Annecy, also known as Lac d'Annecy
Annecy is a fairytale-like town on the side of the lake with the same name: Lake Annecy. It’s a place where the snow-capped mountains are reflected off the blue water. The lake, called Lac d'Annecy, is known as one of the largest lakes in France. It’s over 14 km long and surrounded by 7 villages. In 1960, the country enacted strict environmental regulations, making the water one of the cleanest lakes in Europe. It offers spectacular views and endless swimming and water sports options. Lover's bridge is an iron bridge located in the park next to the lake, which offers a beautiful view over the lake. The boats on the side of the water and the great trees makes the place feel very romantic. We understand why couples seal their love here by using one of the many locks. Legend has it that whoever you kiss on this beautiful bridge will always stay in your life. So, create your own romantic scene while taking a look at this famous bridge. 

Take a walk to Gorges du Fier
Gorges du Fier is a special river gorge in the west of Annecy. You can enter this gorge by a walking path, located against the rock wall. It’s an amazing and narrow gorge where you walk on a footbridge that is located 25 meters above the river. This makes this particular gorge fun for the entire family. It’s absolutely worth it to have a look and for all daredevils among us, it’s definitely recommended to do so!

Discover the foothills of the Alps on two wheels by cycling along Lake Annecy. You can rent a bicycle at various places in the city, so you don't have to bring your own. Cycling in Annecy is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced cyclists. There are numerous routes you can take to get the best out of your bike ride. So get on your bike and discover Annecy in an active way. And for a little more comfort, you can simply rent an e-bike. For the daredevils among us
Well-known ski resorts such as Les Gets and Grand-Bornard are less than a 45 minute drive away. The ski lifts are open in late summer too, so you can go hiking or mountain biking, for example. Enjoy great heights and go paragliding or get in touch with locals in the small shops and craft stores  in the villages.


With 20 kilometers of natural beauty, surrounded by mountains, you’ll imagine yourself at Lake Annecy in a paradise on earth. The crystal clear water calls for a refreshing dip.
