Just because we can’t turn our travel plans into reality right now, doesn’t mean we should stop dreaming about the cities we still want to discover. You probably aren’t thinking of the usual city trips such as Paris, Rome and Berlin right now, because you already know these cities like the back of your hand. You want to discover new places! And we get that. We’ve selected 10 upcoming city trips for you, so you can easily find out which new city deserves a spot on your list! 

Granada, Spain
You want to experience real Spanish culture, but can’t be bothered by the bustle and chaos in Madrid or Barcelona? Then Granada might be just the perfect place for you. With its delicious tapas and authentic buildings, you will experience Andalusian culture at its best. 

Salzburg, Austria
For many people, Salzburg is just a stopover on the way to their holiday destination, but this city has so much to offer. It’s one of the best preserved cities from the Middle Ages, which is reflected in the old houses and narrow streets. Besides that, Salzburg was home to the famous musician Mozart. For the fans: you can visit the former house of the musician yourself! 

Skopje, Macedonia
Skopje is the capital of Macedonia, but few people actually visit the city. Skopje is located on the Vardar River. In the city, you’ll find many different cultural influences, which makes the city a true paradise for architecture-lovers. For example, the Old Bazaar; one of the highlights of Skopje. Here you can stroll through the narrow alleys, enjoy the beautiful Turkish buildings and cosy restaurants. 

Kotor, Montenegro
This idyllic town is located on the Bay of Kotor. The biggest attraction of Kotor is the Stari Grad (the old town). Here you can wander from one alley to another, strolling past cosy cafes and ice cream parlors. Besides that, you can take the walk to the fortress of Sveti Ivan, which stands high on a hill above the city.  All 1350 steps are worth it, as when you arrive at the top, you’ll have a breathtaking view overlooking the bay. 

Riga, Latvia
Riga is also referred to as the ‘Berlin’ of the Baltic States, thanks to the art, music and artistic hipster vibes in the city. Perhaps the biggest advantage of the Latvian capital is that everything in the city is within walking distance. This allows you to enjoy the beauty of this UNESCO-listed city even more. 

Zadar, Croatia
Zadar is one of the many gems of Croatia. It’s a historic city with many impressive Roman ruins and beautiful churches, as well as white beaches on the Dalmatian coast. The historic center of the city is full of romantic alleys and boutiques and the city is also known for having the most beautiful sunset in the world. Sounds like the perfect city trip to celebrate love, right? 

Valletta, Malta
Valletta is the capital of the island of Malta, located just below Sicily. With only 6,000 inhabitants, Valletta is the smallest capital in Europe, making it the perfect city for a short trip. In just a day,  you can visit all the beautiful cathedrals, the interesting museums and wander the streets of this graceful city. Valletta combines culture, history, relaxation and conviviality perfectly, and a sunny climate is guaranteed. Do we need to say more? 

Cairo, Egypt 
This city is a paradise for history buffs. From pyramids to Cairo’s Grand Egyptian Museum: you can dive into all the history Egypt has to offer. The city is also ideal to get acquainted with Egyptian culture. For example, visit one of the markets in the old city center and be amazed by a world of spices, jewelry and the most beautiful fabrics. 

Wroklaw, Poland
The Polish city of Wroklaw - pronounced ‘Vrotswaf’ or ‘Vrotslaf’ - is located about 300 kilometers from the capital Warsaw, near the border with Germany and the Czech Republic. The city is known as ‘Polish Venice’ because it’s surrounded by canals. More than 120 bridges connect twelve islands. It’s a gorgeous city full of colour and architecture. For example, be amazed by the buildings on the central market square ‘Rynek’ and the many university buildings. 

Tel Aviv, Israel 
This city is also referred to as the eastern sister of New York. Besides the beautiful historic center, Tel Aviv has a bustling nightlife and wonderful beaches. In a short time the city has grown into a trendy citytrip destination. However, the city is becoming more and more known to the general public, so you want to go there before the tourists take over.
